California's looming water crisis spurs action. The Polaris Institute along with a number of California based agriculture support groups release a report calling for agricultural water stewardship to protect State’s food production
The Agriculture and Land-Based Training Association, the California Institute for Rural Studies, the Community Alliance with Family Farmers, the Ecological Farming Association, the Polaris Institute, and the WATER Institute of the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center issued a joint report calling for producers and policy-makers to recognize the importance of agricultural water stewardship as a key element of a strategy to better manage California’s dwindling water resources and reduce farmers’ reliance on insecure inputs. The paper, “Water Stewardship: Ensuring a Secure Future for California Agriculture” outlines the case for a water stewardship approach and lays the foundation for a water stewardship strategy.
